In short

Most residential doors in Skopje open without damage. Drilling is the last option, we ask before doing it, and after drilling the lock has to be replaced.

Short stay and Airbnb guests

This is a common call from visitors, usually a door that closed on its own while someone stepped out for a minute, or a key that stayed on the wrong side of it.

We will ask for your booking confirmation and ID. The host is not always reachable and that is fine, but there has to be something showing you are entitled to be in that apartment.

If your host has a keybox and the code is not working, say so on the call. That is a different fix from a lockout and sometimes solvable over the phone.

Apartment blocks

Most of Skopje's housing is blocks, so the usual situation is a locked flat behind an intercom entrance. Tell us the entrance number and floor, because several buildings often share one street address.

Older blocks, particularly those built in the seventies and eighties, still have original cylinders that have never been changed. Those open easily, which is convenient today and a security problem in general.

Houses, gates and secondary doors

In the outer municipalities the call is more often a yard gate, a garage or a back door than the front door of the house.

Electric gates that refuse to open are usually a power, damp or remote battery problem rather than a failed lock. We check that first because the fix is far cheaper.

Opening versus drilling

We always try to open without damage first. Drilling is the last resort, we ask before we do it, and it means the lock is replaced afterwards, which is an added cost.

If your cylinder is old and has no copy protection, it is worth replacing it after a lockout anyway. You have no way of knowing who else holds a key from previous tenants or previous work.
