We answer at night, on Sundays and on public holidays. The night rate is higher than the day rate and you are told the figure before we set off.
What counts as an emergency
Locked out of your home or your car, a key snapped in the lock, a door that will not open from either side, a lock that has failed after an attempted break in, or a business that cannot open in the morning because the shutter lock has seized.
A lock you would like upgraded next week is not an emergency, and we would rather book that for daytime when it costs you less.
Night rates, said plainly
Night work costs more than day work. That is true of every trade that gets out of bed for you, and anyone advertising an identical 24 hour price is either quoting a high day price or will find a reason to change it on arrival.
What we commit to is that you hear the number on the phone, before we drive, and that it does not move without your agreement.
Break ins and damaged locks
If your door has been forced, the priority is making the property secure again the same night, even if the permanent repair happens later.
Report it to the police first. For insurance purposes the report usually needs to exist before the lock is replaced, and we would rather you have that conversation before we change anything.
While you wait
Do not attack the lock with a card, a screwdriver or wire. It turns a straightforward opening into a full lock replacement, and it is the single most expensive mistake people make in the first ten minutes.
If a key has broken off, leave the protruding piece where it is. If you are outside at night and uncomfortable, wait somewhere public and tell us where you actually are.
